What is F1 Visa?
The F1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows international students to study full-time at a U.S. educational institution or language training program. This visa is intended for academic studies and is not intended for employment purposes.
To apply for an F1 visa in the Philippines, you will need to follow these steps:
Apply to a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-approved school in the United States and receive an acceptance letter.
Pay the SEVIS fee online and print the receipt. You will need this receipt when you apply for your visa.
Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form online.
Schedule an appointment for an interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines. You can schedule the appointment online or by phone.
Gather the required and supporting documents:
A valid passport
The SEVIS fee receipt
The DS-160 confirmation page
A recent passport-size photograph
An acceptance letter from a SEVP-approved school
Proof of financial support
Transcripts and diplomas from previous educational institutions
Standardized test scores, if required by the school
6. Attend the interview at the U.S. Embassy on the scheduled date and time. Be sure to bring all of your documents with you.
7. Wait for the processing of your visa application. Once approved, you will receive your visa within a few days.
Can an international student work in USA?
F1 visa holders can stay in the U.S. for the duration of their academic program, and are allowed to work part-time on-campus while studying. They may also be eligible for off-campus employment after one academic year, with certain restrictions. How long can you stay in the US after you finish your degree?
In general, the F1 visa grace period after graduation is 60 days after completion of your program.
