Planning a trip to the United States for business or tourism? If you're a Filipino national, you need a B-1/B-2 travel visa to enter the country. Here the general steps you need to take:
1. Complete the online application form: Fill out the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form online. You'll need to upload a recent photograph that meets the U.S. visa requirements. 2. Pay the visa application fee: The fee for a nonimmigrant visa application (Form DS-160) is $160. Payment can be made online or at any Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) branch in the Philippines. It is necessary to bring the printed deposit slip to the bank for payment. The bank will not process your visa fee without the correct deposit slip. Effective May 30, 2023, the application fee for U.S. visitor visas (B1/B2) and other non-petition based NIVs will increase to $185. 3. Schedule an interview: After paying the visa application fee, you can schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila. Wait times for interview appointments vary, so it's important to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. 4. Attend the visa interview: On the day of the interview, arrive at the U.S. Embassy at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Bring your passport, the confirmation page of your DS-160 form, your appointment confirmation page, and any other required documentation. Be prepared to answer questions about your travel plans, employment, and financial situation. At the end of your interview, you will know the result of your application. If your visa application is approved, your passport and visa will be returned to you via courier. If your application is denied, you will receive a letter stating the reasons for the denial.
